FNAF Maxmodes

If you've watched Markiplier, you're probably familiar with the maxmodes (aka hardest challenges) of the mainline FNAF games, like 4/20, 10/20, Aggressive Nightmare, 50/20, etc.

However, fangame maxmodes go FAR past the mainline games in terms of difficulty. The Maxmode List ranks modes based on their difficulties. For reference, Scott Cawthon's hardest maxmode, 50/20, is not even top 150. This page is for me to talk about some of the more notable maxmodes I've done or attempted. (Note: Some games have multiple modes that are considered maxmodes according to the MML.)

Nightmare at Disney

#201 on the Main List. Mode beaten.

Nightmare at Disney (NaD) is the first, and easiest, maxmode in FNATI But Dumb. You can find my completion of it here.

I really enjoy this game, and this challenge was no different. After mastering the office cycle and a LOT of practice with The Face, Hourglass, Photonegative Mickey, and Classic Photonegative Mickey, I started attempts. Quickly, I got an early 2 am pb (note: each ingame hour is a minute and ten seconds) and then fluked all the way to 5:36 (almost 5 am). On my next stream attempting NaD, I started the day with a death to Impurity. To put it simply, Impurity is like Foxy in FNAF 1, except if they get to their final stage, you die. Generally, in NaD, Impurity is pretty easy to deal with, so an Impurity death was not a good start. Later that stream, however, I beat the mode, ending with a close call with CPNM.

To explain what happened, I need to explain PNM and CPNM. Both of these characters work similarly, in that they will appear in a specific camera and then your office, requiring you to shut the camera they came from. To deal with PNM and CPNM easily, my strategy was to close one of their cameras right before starting the office cycle, so that if they entered in the middle of the office cycle, they get dealt with automatically. Since there are two of them, you can only pick one to shut off. Usually, it's very easy to guess who is closer to entering, but at the end of my winning run, I guessed wrong. I shut off PNM's camera, but CPNM entered first. Because of this, I had to break the office cycle, something you rarely need to do in NaD, to quickly shut CPNM's camera. Also, I did check, and had I just ignored CPNM, I would've died at 6:58 :)

Catfight Crashout

#187 on the Main List. Mode beaten.

Catfight Crashout is the first maxmode of Girls Night. Unlike NaD, which mostly requires awareness, Catfight Crashout is HEAVILY based on speed. This is best shown with Shock, who only gives you 1.5 seconds after dropping cameras to shock them in the office. This mode crosses the line between modes that only took a few days to beat, and modes which take over a week. Firstly, I beat all the presets, then a challenge I call Catless Crashout, which is simply Catfight Crashout without Nekuu. Removing Nekuu heavily streamlines the night, since Nekuu requires you to refill her patience every so often, which is VERY dangerous.

After a few days of attempts, I had gotten a few pbs that were past the 2 minute mark. Note that Catfight Crashout lasts 3 minutes and 41 seconds. After that, I started getting more and more consistent. Something VERY important about Catfight Crashout is due to the strict killtimers, especially Shock's, missclicks will most often lead to death. So not only did I have to train my speed, but I also had to get better at not getting shaky as I got further into the night. Eventually I got my first 3 minute run, then a 3:25, and one day, I had a run that was very promising. I had gotten past the last Nekuu refill, and things were going very well. 3:25 passed, then 3:30, then I was only a few seconds away. However, I let my guard down too soon. Realizing how close the end was, I stopped doing anything, unaware that I had been in the cameras for too long. Shock entered, and it was over. I died a little more than a second away from the end.

Was I angry? No. SHOULD I have been angry? Absolutely. Honestly, the sheer absurdity of dying a second away from victory was just kinda funny to me. As well, I did a run a bit after and easily got a minute in, so chances are it won't be long before I win for real.

As of August 3rd, 2025, IT IS DONE. Fun fact, NaD was in the top 200 of the main list when I beat it, but has since fallen out, so with this mode, I've reclaimed my top 200 maxmoder status.
